“When it comes down to picking between a dumbbell or kettlebell, the answer is always ‘it depends.’”
Depends on what?, you may ask, and it’s a good question.
With a dumbbell, the weight is evenly distributed on both sides of the handle, whereas the weight of a kettlebell sits below the handle. And while it’s difficult for most to grip a dumbbell with more than one hand, a kettlebell is designed to either be gripped with a single hand, or both hands at the same time.

The kettlebell is probably the more dynamic tool, resulting in better power and speed production. But when it comes to building strength, the dumbbell is probably the better choice – remember, stability matters when pursuing strength, and just as a barbell is more stable than two dumbbells, a dumbbell is more stable than a kettlebell because of the more even weight-distribution.
